Hero Michael Rescues Abused Dog Kicked In The Street By Man Being Sought By Police (VIDEO)

A defenseless dog kicked in the face during devastating public display of animal cruelty has already found a loving home after a kind-hearted shop owner Michael swooped in and rescued him.

Michael Lamb, 42, of Liverpool, rushed to the dog ‘s aid after video footage of the vicious attack outside a supermarket in Liverpool went viral yesterday.

Michael is being hailed a “hero” after news of his kind actions spread online today.

The shop owner has now spoken out following the rescue and revealed he has already found a loving home for the abused pooch – which he has named ‘Sconehead’.

Michael explained he was able to take the brown and white Corgie-Jack Russell cross back to his shop, Maggie’s Farm Organics on Aigburth Road, where the dog has been recovering since.

The dad-of-three told the Liverpool Echo : “My main care was for that dog. I’m a father and I’ve got a little daughter.

“I was getting messages after the attack saying, ‘Do you know about this fella?’ and I did. I thought ‘I’m not having this.’

“I shut the shop and walked up there, knocked two or three times and I could hear the dog barking. My first impression was ‘I am taking that dog away from you’.

Michael says he convinced the owner to give him the dog after noticing blood on the dog’s face.

The shocking incident, filmed by a passerby, happened in Toxteth, Liverpool, at about 4.20pm yesterday and footage was posted online later that day.

In the horrifying video, the man kicks the small brown and white dog in its face as he walks it on a lead, outside Tesco in Park Road.

The poor pooch desperately tries to run from the man following the vicious attack, but it gets yanked back by the lead around its neck.

The small dog is lifted in the air by the force of the man’s kick, which is witnessed by a passersby who then confronts the owner.

The dog then appears to flinch as its owner responds angrily to members of the public who tried to intervene.

A witness, who didn’t want to be named, said he saw blood spatters on the pavement from the injured dog, after it was kicked.

He told the Liverpool Echo : “I was walking up with my earphones in when I saw a man rag his dog off the bus, he was booting it in the side and from behind.

“The dog looked terrified and was trying to escape from him, he was yanking the lead up and volleying the poor dog in the face, by this point there was blood all over the floor.

“I thought it was one kick away from falling to the floor and dying, at that point everyone ran over confronting the man screaming at him.”

The witness posted the video of the attack on Facebook with a post which read: “Anyone know who this… scumbag is, volleying his dog up and down Park Road, leaving blood all over the dog and all up the road. He’s roughly around 50-60 years old.”

The witness also posted pictures which appear to show blood on the pavement close to where the incident took place.

But less than a day after the horrifying ordeal, little Sconehead has transformed from a “scared” dog into a “chill lad” who is at home by Michael’s side.

Michael said: “I can’t move for him, he follows me around. He still growls and is a bit nervous but he is a completely different dog from last night. He thinks he owns the gaff.”

Michael can’t keep Sconehead as he has another dog, Piper at home, even though the RSPCA has told him Sconehead is now his.

He said: “The RSPCA are going to check him over and make sure he is OK. They’ve told me he is my dog now. And I am making sure he goes to the right family.

“It is so horrible. I do not want to let him go.”

But the good news is that after being inundated with offers Michael has found the perfect home for Sconehead – just a few doors down from his shop.

He said: “I know the girl who is going to have him I wouldn’t just give him to anyone. I have had that many people asking and saying ‘I will have him, I will have’ him but this way I can see him every day.

“I’m devastated. I’m going to miss him.”

Sconehead is going to Kerry Thomas, who runs and owns Onion, a cafe also on Aigburth Road.

She told the Liverpool Echo: “My husband and I have wanted to rescue a dog for ages. We didn’t think we would get him.”

Kerry said it was “love at first sight” when she met Sconehead – although she says she will change his name and is thinking about calling him Mick after his rescuer.

The RSPCA is currently investigating the incident with Merseyside Police.

Michael Ward, the RSPCA’s interim chief executive, said: “Anyone who has seen this video will be as horrified as I was that someone could be so brutal to this poor dog.

“Please rest assured that our officers are working hard to ensure the dog is safe and the man is held accountable for his actions.

“We will never tolerate this kind of cruelty towards animals.”
