Adorable Dog Scruffy Is Looking For A Forever Home Care – At The Ripe Old Age Of 17
Adorable dog Scruffy is looking for a forever home care – at the ripe old age of 17.
The Dogs Trust is trying to find the cute pooch a home after he has been with the charity for 14 years.
Scruffy is one of Britain’s oldest rescue dogs after looking for a forever home care at the age of 17.
The sweet – natured crossbreed was taken in by Dogs Trust after his owner became ill and could no longer care for him.
He is around 119 in dog years and is more than four times the average age of a pooch normally found with the animal charity.
But Dogs Trust is hoping his seniority will prove a plus point with potential adopters, with the elderly animal unlikely to misbehave like a more youthful pet.
Sarah Fortey, Home From Home co-ordinator at Dogs Trust Evesham, Worcs., said: “It’s especially sad when older dogs come to us and have to leave everything they know behind through no fault of their own.
“Scruffy is getting lots of TLC at his foster home but we’re really hoping somebody will open their home and heart to this mature chap really soon.
“There are so many advantages to owning an older dog and they make great companions.”
Elderly rescue dogs need less exercise, are house-trained and have a developed personality so owners can understand the dog they’re adopting.
Despite his age, Scruffy still enjoys going on three gentle walks a day. His sight is fine but, at 17 years old, he is a bit hard of hearing.
He is the oldest canine at Dogs Trust and was adopted through the charity as a young animal 14 years ago.
Sarah added: “Scruffy is looking for a quiet home to keep someone company who is around for most of the day.
“He doesn’t need much exercise but is happy to go for a stroll or potter about in the garden. He loves a cuddle so would be at his happiest relaxing on the sofa with his new family.”
